Inspections, audits, and checklists are used by various industries and organizations to keep within compliance.

Safesite has its own library of templates to choose from. Your Organization and Project Administrators can also add or create Organization-specific inspections for personnel to access via the Safesite Mobile App.

Watch this video on how to conduct an Inspection:

In this article:

How to Conduct an Inspection via the Safesite Mobile App

1. Open the Safesite app on your mobile device. If you see Action Cards displayed, select a Conduct Inspection card for the correct Project.

Note: Action cards with required inspection templates will show the title and a dash. This indicates that a mobile user cannot change which template can be completed. Action cards without a dash will give you the ability to select an inspection template yourself or swap out an assigned template.

If you want to create an Inspection and there are no Conduct Inspection cards to select, you can also select the plus (+) icon at the bottom of the screen.

2. When selecting the plus (+) icon, the screen will redirect to the New Safety Action screen. Select Conduct Inspection and select the appropriate Project.

3. Select an inspection location: Tap Select Location to choose a location from the resulting popup list, use the search bar at the top to narrow down the list, or add a new location entirely.

Note: If you do not have the option to create a new location and the appropriate location is not listed, an Administrator can add a new location from the Safesite Desktop or an Organization Administrator can update the who can create locations setting in the Organization Settings.

5. Select an Inspection Template: Inspection Template can be assigned by an Admin through a Campaign or they can be selected from the Select Inspection Template pop-up.

  • If there is already an Inspection Template selected and no pencil icon next to the topic, it is a required Inspection Template assigned to you by an Admin.

  • When the pencil icon is next to an assigned Inspection Template, it is an optional topic and can be swapped out for a different one by selecting the pencil icon.

  • If the Inspection Template has not already been selected, you can click on Select Inspection Template to open the pop-up and choose your Inspection

  • The Recent tab displays topics that you have used recently. Custom templates that are specific to your organization will be accessible in the My Org tab. You can also utilize the Inspection Templates from the Safesite tab to search our free library of hundreds of safety topics.

6. Complete the template's questions. Once you select a template, the page will be populated with questions. These questions will usually be framed as criteria checks for the inspection subject and can be answered with different options.

  • Below select the checkmark button for "Yes" or "Satisfactory", the X button for "No" or "Unsatisfactory", or the N/A button if the question is not applicable for the current inspection.

  • Selecting the ✔ or X enables you to Add an Observation, a Hazard, or a comment.

  • See the adding an OBSERVATION article or the adding a HAZARD article.

  • NA will move you on to the next question.

Note: You can have additional actions required for a question see list below.

Here are some alternate options for possible questions:

  • Safe / Unsafe / NA

  • Pass / Fail / NA

  • Yes / No / NA

  • Text answer

Some additional optional actions are based on answer types:

  • Actions optional - Additional actions are optional

  • If Negative - Requires Observation

  • If Negative - Requires Hazard

  • If Negative - Requires Photo

  • If Negative - Requires Comment

  • If Positive Or Negative - Requires Photo

7. Tap Complete Inspection at the bottom of the screen to complete and add the inspection to the system once all the questions have been completed.

Note: You are not able to edit inspections once they are completed.

If additional details need to be added before the completion of an inspection, save it as a draft instead by clicking the “X” at the top right and selecting “Yes, Save for later”.
